Nos meses de setembro e outubro, o Porto e a ARCP CoLAB foram casa para Vít Málek, estudante de mestrado em Química na Universidade de Pardubice e que, durante 2 meses, valorizou o seu percurso académico junto da nossa equipa através do programa Erasmus+.
Integrado nos trabalhos do projeto competitivo LagusColl, o Vít teve também a possibilidade de conhecer outros projetos, de visitar o Polo de Viseu da ARCP CoLAB, de aprender sobre o funcionamento de vários equipamentos e metodologias laboratoriais, e de vivenciar um pouco da nossa cultura interna e externa, uma vez que participou nos pequenos-almoços de equipa em dias de aniversário e aproveitou cada raio de sol para surfar na belíssima costa portuguesa.
Antes de ser ir embora, foram estas as palavras que deixou para a nossa equipa:
Right from the beginning, I felt warmly welcomed and fully integrated into the team. Communication was prompt, smooth, and effective from day one. Everyone here is exceptionally hardworking and dedicated, yet the atmosphere always felt friendly and almost like a family.
I really appreciated that I was entrusted with running my own project segment independently, which gave me valuable hands-on experience and autonomy in organizing my work, while always having full support whenever I needed advice. Beyond my main tasks, the team generously showed me the broader scope of their activities - from collagen extraction and urethane-cork composites to their second laboratory facilities in Viseu.
Outside of work, the location made the whole stay unforgettable. Porto is a stunning historic city with incredible sunsets, and being right by the ocean with great surf spots nearby provided an ideal balance. Overall, the traineeship exceeded my expectations both professionally and personally.
